Fordland's Law enforcement got much-needed protection thanks to the Webster Electric Round Up Grant.
With a population of roughly 800 citizens and law enforcement consisting of one full-time officer and two reserve offices, Fordland is described to be a small and friendly town.
Still, like other towns, "Once in a while we do have problems," Chief of Fordland Police Dwayne Sanders mentions, "Sometimes we help back up the county offices or on occasion I have gone over to Seymour and help them out."
So with the call to serve and protect going beyond their city limits, one officer Teresa Alexander, with the Chief's and city's blessing, started looking around for grants to help purchase needed equipment for the two reserve officers.
The Fordland Police Department was one of five winners in the fourth quarter of Webster Electric's Round Up Grant. They received $1,400, which will be used to purchase two bulletproof vests for the reserve officers. Once they complete their order within the month, the vests will arrive shortly after.
"We are very thankful for grants or donations from any place we can ge," Chief Sanders expressed. "Our Department relies on grants and donations. So now that Webster Electric has helped us, we are very grateful."
