Marshfield—The winter season is quickly approaching and with that, increases the amount of wood burned and the potential for fires. This year, local firefighters are working to alert citizens on how to react quickly to a fire and to know where to go.

Rogersville—On Sept. 11, the Rogersville mayor and entire board of aldermen simultaneously resigned their positions, leaving the city without a government. Now, more than a month later, solutions to fill the void are still being sought. A public meeting was held at the Rogersville Senior Citizens Center on Oct. 9 so that City Attorney LeRoy Kaelke could update the citizens on the options the city faces.

Tom Farr of this city and L.A. Williams, Niangua were fishing Friday at Norfolk Dam. It is reliably reported that Tom caught a 7 1/2 pound bass. We report this news realizing that it may cause quite a rush of business for the Norfolk area. Another report says that the fish was so large that Tom had some thought of calling to Marshfield for a wrecker to help him transport the fish home.

Deaths reported in this issue: Clark Gene Hillman, 40, Willard; Omega ‘Midge’ Mace, 60, Marshfield; Jack Glen Farrow, 70, Rogerville; Bessie Myrtle (Ames) Johnson, 93, Marshfield.
