Madison Rueckert, of Marshfield, appeared before Judge Michael Hendrickson on June 6 for a trial hearing. Rueckert has been charged with Class A felony of Murder in the first degree and pleaded not guilty to the charge on April 20.

Rueckert's Attorney indicated they would be filing a change of venue for the next court date. She remains in the Webster County Jail after confessing to shooting her boyfriend on December 30, 2022. According to the probable cause from the Marshfield Police Department, motive is indicitive on text messages sent to other females which she claimed to find on his phone.

According to the statement, she then waited that evening for her boyfriend to fall asleep, then proceeded to shoot him. Afterward, Rueckert got into her vehicle, drove into Dallas County, and spent the rest of the evening in the woods. The next day, after she turned herself into the Dallas County Sheriff's Office afterward, she spoke to Marshfield detectives detailing how she killed him.

Should the change of venue be granted, trial is expected to continue in Dallas County. The next court date is currently set for July 5. According to Missouri law, if convicted, Rueckert faces life in prison without the eligibility for probation or parole or the death penalty.
