Missing funds spur investigation at Marshfield Care Center

Posted

The Marshfield Police Department is continuing an investigation into the disappearance of
$4,000 in cash reported missing from the Marshfield Care Center late last month.
On May 22, officers responded to the facility after receiving a report that an 84-year-old
resident’s money—kept in the administrator’s office safe—could not be accounted for. The cash
was reportedly being held on behalf of the resident for safekeeping.
A detective with the department conducted multiple interviews with current and former
employees in connection to the case. Among those interviewed was Jennifer Zucca, the center’s
Director of Revenue Cycle Management. Zucca later informed the detective that she had
returned to Marshfield and conducted her own internal interviews, promising to provide the
detective with a report and related text messages.
However, during a follow-up conversation, the detective pointed out inconsistencies in

statements gathered from staff members. Zucca reportedly acknowledged that money was
indeed missing from the safe.
Through the course of the investigation, two potential suspects were identified, though both
denied any involvement in the theft. The detective requested that both individuals undergo a
Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) test to determine potential deception. Initially, both
agreed but later stated they had been instructed not to participate.
Despite several attempts to follow up, the detective has not received further communication
from Zucca, nor the promised investigative report. As of June 13, the missing $4,000 has not
been returned to the elderly resident.
The investigation remains open as police work to resolve the matter.
