Meet the 'Jays

Posted

This year’s Meet the ‘Jays for outdoor sports at R.A. Barr was a blast for all who appreciate the hard work these kids and their coaches put into their respective seasons.

At the event, several booths were in place to sell Bluejay merchandise. Hoodies, t-shirts, sweatshirts, chair back seats, and all sorts of gear were sold. Season passes were also available.

The Marshfield Bluejays Booster Club hopes to use the money raised to accomplish its goal of providing the athletics department the necessary support through volunteer, parents, business, and community partnerships.

Meet the ‘Jays was kicked off at 5:00 p.m. with the introduction of the boy's soccer team coached by Tom Season. This year is the last Meet the ‘Jays for seniors Easton Arthur, Ronin Adams, Issac West, Austin Hoffman, and James Greene.

The soccer teams then split for a scrimmage at R.A. Barr.

Next, James Mcanarney and the Lady ‘Jays softball team were introduced to their community. With eight returning starters, Marshfield Softball is looking to improve upon last year’s season. Seniors Halle Menzies and Camyryn Elliot will say farewell to Lady ‘Jay softball after graduating later this year.

The Lady ‘Jays had a scrimmage at Trantham Field after the ceremony. The team's assitant coach is Melissa Clark.

At about 5:30, the Lady ‘Jays golf team was introduced, followed by the cross-country team.

Zach Mitchell is the only senior for the cross-country squad, and is looking for his fourth consecutive appearance at state.

Both the cheer squad and the dance squad fired attendees up the crowd with impressive performances from both squads.

Finally, Coach Cody Bull and the Marshfield Boy’s football squad were introduced to the fans.

Seniors Dayvion Harris, MJ Gritts, Jordan Barnes, Joey Tackett, Anthony Medina, and Jacob Milton were recognized before the teams split to participate in a scrimmage at R.A. Barr.

Bull will be joined by Matt Holt, Roy Kaderly, Paul Lewis, Cecil Bratton, William Pate, Eli Hungerford, and Jason Broyles as assistant coaches for the 2023 Bluejays football season.
