First Annual Community Christmas event comes to Marshfield

Posted

The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce is trying its hand at something different this year for Christmas. For the first time, chamber partners will attempt its parade at night, followed by an opportunity for coco with Santa and more before the first annual lighting of the city’s Christmas tree.

I have been working with the Board of Directors on the Community Christmas Event,” Chamber President Kellee Fiscus said. “We’re excited to bring this to Marshfield.”

The parade will take place Friday, Dec. 10 starting at 5:30 p.m. The Chamber will offer partners the opportunity to choose their places in the parade line-up and will award three prizes for the Best Float Competition.

1st place prize will be $50, 2nd place will receive $25 and 3rd prize will be $10. Voting will take place after the parade by the community.

“We know we are unable to accommodate everyone, however due to the comments we have received we will be moving the event back one hour,” she said. “This will still be held Friday, December 10th with a later start time.”

At 6:45 p.m., the chamber will have cookies and hot chocolate with Santa offered at the gazebo on the square. There will also be a live Nativity Scene, music and food trucks for all to enjoy. Tree lighting will take place at 8:00 p.m.

“We also plan to have tokens for the children in attendance to have a free meal,” Fiscus added. “We hope everyone can join us for this event.”

In addition to the night of festivities for the 1st Annual Marshfield Community Christmas Event, storefronts and businesses in Marshfield are being encouraged to display lights for the community to vote on. The winner of the best display will be awarded at the event and will receive a $100 gift card.

Businesses began decorating on Thanksgiving night and will continue to display their Christmas spirit through Jan. 4, 2022. To register your display, or for more information on the first annual event, contact Kellee Fiscus at (417) 859-3925 or at admin@discovermarshfield.com
