FFA Booster Club hosts truck and tractor pull

Posted

The Marshfield FFA program has been known to produce well-rounded and hardworking individuals that stay invested in our community. From banking, education, farming, and everything in between, most residents of Marshfield have that “blue jacket” hanging in their closets.

To ensure that these types of individuals continue to make Marshfield a great community, the FFA Booster Club was created in 2019/2020. The club is a non-profit organization and dedicated to promoting and advancing agriculture education in the Marshfield school district. These needs include supporting students in activities, SAE projects, financial assistance and more.

However, like any non-profit organization, raising funds to achieve its goals can be complicated. Yet, numerous FFA Alumni have stepped up to the challenge including Randall Hatchcock, Matt Manary, Thornton Masonry, and members of the Marshfield Saddle Club to name a few.

This year, the booster club, with the help of many, is organizing its first annual “Marshfield FFA Booster Club Truck and Tractor Pull” on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. The pull will be located at the newly revitalized Marshfield Saddle Club on Commerce Rd. The Saddle Club is happy to host according to Secretary Treasure and 20-year member Glynda Lender.

“We’re excited about getting back up and going. We’ve had some big events in the past, but its been several years. We are glad to be able to make the space available to the FFA and assist in their fundraising efforts,” shared Lender.

Additionally, Marshfield FFA Booster Club President Sarah Lowe knows a successful event will benefit both the community and students.

“This is our first major event… and all the money is going to benefit the FFA Booster Club. We’re going to take that money and we’re going to put it into our FFA program. We’re going to help students that may not have the funds for an SAE project or need scholarship assistance,” explained Lowe. “We’re going to turn around and invest this in our kids. Many can’t afford an FFA jacket, but we’re going to make sure they have one.”

The pull will include the following classes:

Tractor Classes: 5500 Stock Tractor, 6500 Open Tractor, 8500 Stock Tractor, 11,500 Stock Tractor, 14,000 Stock Tractor, 14,000 & Over Stock Tractor, 11,000 Hot Stock Tractor, 9500 Open Tractor, and 10,500 Open Tractor.

Truck Classes: 6200 Stock 4WD (no visible mods), 6200 DOT Tire 2wd, 6200 Altered Stock 4wd, (Hot stock and Country Boy stock combo), Open Gas Stock (any wheelbase, dually, etc.), 6200 Open Truck 2wd or 4wd, 6200 Pro Street, 6200 Pro Stock 4wd, 2.6 Diesel Trucks, Small Block Super Stock 4wd, and 6200 Super Street.

The cost for both participants and the audience is $10. The first “hook” for participants has been covered by Thornton Masonry and $20 for additional pulls. Lawn chairs are recommended.

“Come out to the Marshfield Saddle Club. They’ve graciously are allowing us to use their facility,” added Lowe. “Enjoy a good time and help us support our kids.”
