Last week the Conway school board approved 4-day school weeks starting next year. Marshfield Mail reached out to Dr. Luke Boyer, the Laclede County R-1 School District Superintendent, who shared the following.
"If we didn't think we needed to do this for the betterment of the school, we wouldn't be going in this direction. Conway has to be able to stay competitive with the schools surrounding us. Conway has a lot to offer our staff members, however, the attractiveness of a four-day week will still draw people away and prevent others from coming to Conway. The move to a four day week was primarily about retention and recruitment."
