Cardinals raise funds through school carnival

Posted

The Niangua Cardinals had a large showing of support from the community during their Friday, Oct. 22 school carnival. Students grade 6-12 participated in the fundraising event, featuring a Haunted House, Escape Room, carnival games, face painting, food and more.

“We didn’t get to do this last year but other than that we’ve put this together every year now as long as I can remember,” said Lori Allen, Elementary Principal at Niangua Schools. “All of our different clubs come up with different activities and the carnival is one of their major club fundraisers. The community comes in and it’s just a great support for our schools.”

Accoring to Allen, students spent weeks coming up with ideas, figuring out how much they’re going to charge for their different activities and do most of the work themselves.

“Between all of the organizations represented, they offer a little bit of everything at this carnival,” she added. “The kids have to put it together and work it so they truly do it all.”

A large amount of work went into the night’s main attractions – the Niangua Haunted High and the Escape Room. These events were planned and executed by the Niangua FBLA and the 8th grade class, respectively.

“FBLA put together this haunted house to raise funds to help send kids to State and National Convention for competitions and any other kind of networking that they can do,” said Jennifer Callaway. “The kids threw this together in a couple of weeks… We had some outside community members who came in and helped build the base but the kids have been decorating and they came up with the theme.”

The FBLA includes kids from grade 6 to senior year and combines Jr. High as well as High School students for the club.
