As the second annual Veterans Day Parade approaches in Marshfield, the Webster Lodge #98 is excited to announce its plans for a free meal for Veterans, honoring those who have served. The “BB THANK Q” will take place on November 9, just before the parade, and aims to provide a hearty meal for all veterans and active-duty service members.
Champ Herren, a representative of the Lodge, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “It’s crucial for us to feed our veterans for free and offer them a quality meal,” he stated. “We want to show our appreciation for their service.”
In addition to serving veterans, the Lodge will also provide meals for soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood. The lunch will feature a delicious spread of barbecue, sides, and desserts, with generous donations of sweets from Price Cutter.
A special highlight of the event will be a photo opportunity for veterans. Herren expressed his desire to capture a moment of camaraderie by lining up veterans for a group photo. “We hope to take a picture of all the veterans that day, possibly on Washington Street in front of the Lodge. It’s been over 70 years since such a photo was taken, and it would be great to share it online and tag everyone involved,” he said.
Parking will be designated for disabled veterans at the Lodge, ensuring easy access for those in need. Once event supplies are unloaded, veterans are invited to park there.
To further support veterans, the Lodge has partnered with the Masonic Home to provide matching funds for Honor Flight of the Ozarks.
“For every $10 we charge non-veterans, the Masonic Home will triple the amount for Honor Flight,” Herren explained. “With this program, we hope to raise over $1,000 for this worthy cause.”
The Lodge encourages community members to join in this celebration of our veterans. The lunch is free for veterans and active-duty service members, while non-veterans are invited to contribute $10 to help support the Lodge in its Honor Flight initiative.
Join the Lodge and friends on November 9 for a morning of gratitude, good food, and fellowship as they honor those who have bravely served our country.
