The girls soccer teams at both Logan-Rogersville and Marshfield High School have found the early going of their seasons difficult.
The Lady Jays actually started their season off in pretty good fashion, taking two of their three matches in the Fair Grove Invitational, March 16-17. The Marshfield girls were beaten by Branson, 3-0, but edged Laquey on penalty kicks, 2-1, then took a 3-1 decision over Fair Grove.
But that success was followed by a trio of setbacks last week. The Lady Jays fell to West Plains on March 19, 2-0, then were blanked by identical 6-0 scores at Lebanon last Tuesday and at home by Springfield Catholic last Thursday.
The Lady Jays have a pair of road games this week. After traveling to New Covenant Academy Tuesday, the Marshfield girls will head up Interstate 44 to Newburg Thursday afternoon for a varsity-only clash. The Lady Jays will then return home Monday to battle Hillcrest.
The Lady Cats of Rogersville have had similar recent struggles without the early tournament success. They lost their season opener on the road at Willard, 5-0, last Tuesday, then were beaten 6-3 at home by Republic last Thursday.
The Lady Cats will return to Rogersville for home dates with Parkview this Thursday and Bolivar next Tuesday.
