Cooler weather and hunting season can mean fun for all ages. This weekend wrapped up the early youth portion of deer season. Several local young hunters ages 6 to 15 participated in the age-old tradition. They did not fail to impress, as preliminary data from the Missouri of Conservation shows 11,219 deer were harvested statewide, with 141 coming from Webster County. more

Nov. 5 will mark the end of daylight savings for 2023. Whatever happened to the U.S. Government putting a stop to the back and forth of the clock? In March last year, the U.S. unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 (S.623). The bill would make Daylight Saving Time permanent throughout the U.S., starting Nov. 5, 2023, with the exception of states like Arizona and Hawaii, which do not observe Daylight Savings. more

Growing up on a farm in Kansas, Marshfield Police Chief Doug Fannen says he always dreamed of being a police officer, but envisioned a career of farming in his future. Ultimately, he decided that serving the community through law enforcement was his destiny. He graduated from the academy in Kansas and started out as a police officer in his hometown of Fort Scott, where he worked for a few years before moving to Utah. He went through the academy in Utah and was hired at the Lehi Police Department where he also attended the Advanced Officers Academy. It was also here that he met his wife and had three boys. more
