The Webster County Clerk’s office looked to stir a little fun and friendly competition in Webster County with its first ever photo competition. The Clerk’s office, which includes Stan Whitehurst, Missy Pickel, Dee Lavery, and Sarah King encouraged both citizens and county employees to enter a photo they felt represented Webster County. more
As you probably already well know, we live in the Show Me State. That nickname has been an inspiration for businesses and names all over Missouri. There’s Sho-me-power, the electric co-op, here locally. Then there’s the Show-me-center, Southeast Missouri State University’s arena, several hours east of us. Still plenty more examples abide. It is such a part of our consciousness and lingo that it just flows off the tongue. But how did it get to be that way? What is the history behind the coining of this phrase? more

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that young hunters ages 6 through 15 harvested 13,759 deer during Missouri’s early youth portion of the 2022 deer hunting season, Oct. 29-30. Top counties were Franklin with 330 deer harvested, Osage with 310, and Howell with 260. Youth hunters harvested 15,608 during last year’s early youth portion. more
November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. Palliative care is for those with serious illnesses, while those in hospice are considered terminally ill; the help is there for the patient, and their family members. Both physical care and counseling are included. Nationwide, around 1.6 million patients receive hospice care yearly. more
