The Rev. Jesse and Opha Mary Kern

The families and relatives of the Rev. Jesse H. Kern and Opha Mary Hightower Kern will be coming from across the country and arriving at the Lake of the Ozarks for a family reunion July 20–22. All descendants and relatives are invited to attend the gathering at the Lake of the Ozarks. Stories and information will be shared about relatives and family members.

The main activities will include dinner on Friday night, July 20, a Saturday picnic and lake activities, along with golfing and a boat excursion. There will be plenty of activities for the young and old alike and detailed genealogy for interested parties.

As time gets nearer, those who respond will be contacted with more details and updates; be sure to provide a phone number or email address. For an information packet on the reunion, contact Elise’ K. Long at or Mary Dycus Whitaker at

The Hightowers, Whittenburgs, Dyches, Hydes and Walkers came mostly from southern Missouri, primarily in Wright and Webster counties. The Kerns, Gunters and Warfords came from the Kansas City area. Relatives from both the Kern and Hightower families moved to Montana, Oklahoma and Texas.

If you have questions as to whether you are related to any of the family branches listed, contact the emails given above.
