Road improvements begin on Banning

Resurfacing of Banning Street began Monday, April 5. The first section to be addressed is from Spur Drive to Church Street. Drivers should expect delays, frequent closures and single lane traffic to continue throughout the next couple of months.

“This has been a big focus of mine,” said Mayor Natalie McNish on the project. “We need to improve our current infrastructure.”

“Crews are rebuilding the subgrade of that road, then they will patch over the top of it,” she explained. “Then at a later date we’ll do an overlay.”

According to McNish, Banning will “not be perfect right off the bat,” as the city will be completing the project in stages.

Banning Street resurfacing is the first of multiple road projects in the current budget for this year.

“The city staff is excited to get out and get this work done,” she added. “I hope the citizens are excited to see it improved as well.”
