Erlin "Jean" Murray

Erlin "Jean" Murray née Gallion was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Elkland, Missouri. She passed away May 15, 2019, at the age of 91. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin T. Murray.

She is survived by her sons, Eddie (Mary) Murray of Wentzville, Missouri, Dennis (Mindy) Murray of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Kelly (Amy Hildebrand) Murray of O’Fallon, Missouri; her daughter, Sue (Dan) Drullinger of Wentzville, Missouri; her grandchildren, Jess (Kara Roach) Murray of St. Charles, Missouri, Aaron (Jessie) Murray of Wentzville, Missouri, Mitchell (Meagan) Murray of Wentzville, Missouri, Jack (Bethany) Murray of Boise, Idaho, Petty Officer First Class, Kyle Murray of Pearl City, Hawaii, Bobi Sue (Don Hennenhoefer) Couch of St. Charles, Missouri, Jacob Couch of St. Peters, Missouri, Dalton (Kelly) Murray of Ozark, Missouri and Tanner Rojewski of Ellisville, Missouri; her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Avery, Emma, Sophia, Addison, Tucker, Mason and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Gallion, and her mother, Bernice Gallion, of Elkland, Missouri; her brother, Dick Gallion of Springfield, Missouri; and her sister, Bernadine (Perk) Tracy of Marshfield, Missouri.

Jean married Ed on Nov. 10, 1948, and they shared 55 years of love and commitment. Jean’s passion was gardening, cooking and baking. She loved to fish and was an impeccable seamstress. She was a telephone operator and den leader, and she sold Tupperware, taught pre-school, assisted in elementary education, was dedicated to her church and above all cherished and loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation was scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville, Missouri. Services are 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 22, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, O’Fallon, Missouri, with additional visitation at the church an hour before the service time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Mount Zion Cemetery, in care of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1151 Tom Ginnever Ave., O’Fallon MO 63366.
