Following an incident in the early morning of Jan. 29, Marshfield citizen Lane Barger faces two Class E Felonies of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon. He also faces an unclassified felony of armed criminal action and a Class B Felony of assault in the 1st degree.

Fordland Resident Chad Gibson was charged with a Class D Felony for abuse or neglect of a child on Jan. 25. According to a probable cause statement from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch reported a domestic disturbance in Fordland on Jan. 24. When Authorities arrived, he spoke to the victim, who explained an incident between themselves and Gibson. Authorities noticed the victim had marks on their body that matched their story. When authorities questioned Gibson about the incident, he denied anything occurred.

On October 30, 2022 Officer Watson was patrolling Highway 60 east bound near Division when he observed a gray colored cargo van that had appeared to have run off the road. Officer Watson engaged his emergency lights and headed toward the front of the van.

November 4, 2022, marked this year's fourth and final round of the Webster County Round Up Grants. Thanks to members of Webster Electric Co-Op who participate in the Round Up program. By rounding up your bill, Webster Electric gave $25,840 to help local non-profits by providing much-needed financial aid, from bulletproof vests, roofs and floors. The Webster County Clerk’s office looked to stir a little fun and friendly competition in Webster County with its first ever photo competition. The Clerk’s office, which includes Stan Whitehurst, Missy Pickel, Dee Lavery, and Sarah King encouraged both citizens and county employees to enter a photo they felt represented Webster County.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that young hunters ages 6 through 15 harvested 13,759 deer during Missouri’s early youth portion of the 2022 deer hunting season, Oct. 29-30. Top counties were Franklin with 330 deer harvested, Osage with 310, and Howell with 260. Youth hunters harvested 15,608 during last year’s early youth portion.

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. Palliative care is for those with serious illnesses, while those in hospice are considered terminally ill; the help is there for the patient, and their family members. Both physical care and counseling are included. Nationwide, around 1.6 million patients receive hospice care yearly.
