Such a beautiful morning as Sunday makes it so easy to be grateful for all our blessings! The thanksgiving flows from deep within our hearts and souls!

Scriptures were Psalm 133, Acts 1:12-26, Revelation 22:1-6, 12-21, Romans 6:9, John 14:18 and John 17:20-26.

The first recorded meeting of the disciples after Jesus ascended into heaven was necessary to select someone to replace Judas in the ministry. Matthias was chosen because he had witnessed the resurrection.

Was it necessary for Judas to betray Jesus? Yes, someone had to do it to fulfill scripture, and God chose Judas. Was it necessary for Jesus to be born in Bethlehem? Was it necessary for Jesus to be baptized? Was it necessary for Jesus to spend 40 days in the wilderness being tempted by Satan? Yes to all of these, in order to fulfill scripture.

Was it necessary for Jesus to be nailed to the cross? Yes, to fulfill scripture, but, more importantly, so that we could be saved from our sins. Was it necessary for Jesus to ascend to heaven? Yes, to prepare a place in heaven for all who love the Lord and believe Christ died for our sins.

We ended with the old hymn “Nearer My God to Thee.” How fitting! Is that not what we all want and God desires?

We would like to invite the community to join us on Saturday, June 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. for a free evening of music, crafts, fun, food and fellowship.
