Missing Webster County woman found deceased

Posted

Update Saturday, 3/5 10:30 p.m.: Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole says the woman has been found deceased and family has been notified. More in the Wednesday, March 29 edition of the Marshfield Mail.

Original Story:

One woman is still missing after a vehicle was swept off the road at the Finley River Crossing on State Route Z near Olga in Webster County Thursday night. The vehicle was carrying three local passengers and a pet when it was first stranded around 10:30 p.m. after attempting to travel over the low-water crossing.

“All passengers were able to exit the vehicle and two people were removed from the water and made it to safety last night,” said Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole. “We are still looking for the third person.”

According to Cole, search efforts include boats in the water, drones above the area and manpower from the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District in addition to the Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Battlefield Fire Protection District. Earlier Friday, search and rescue authorities safely located the dog which was missing from the scene overnight.

“We have boats in the water now looking for the missing person and we have a long stretch to cover as the water is receding,” he added. “Visibility is getting clearer but we’re not having any luck yet and we’re continuing to search as we keep the family in communication as much as possible.”

The Marshfield Mail will have more on this ongoing emergency as updates are provided.
