Marshfield is in for a new kind of holiday tradition with its first ever Christmas Home Tour scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9. Several residential houses in Marshfield will be available to tour both inside and out as the homeowners open their doors in the spirit of Christmas, all to benefit the Marshfield Public Schools Foundation.
“This is a multi-location home tour where people buy tickets and get to explore the holiday decor of several local homes,” explained event coordinator Cindy Raney. “I’ve attended several home tours over the years and really enjoyed it… I felt like Marshfield has a lot of beautiful homes and we should do something similar to celebrate the beauty in our own community.”
The tours will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. with participants split into four groups to view the homes. Tickets are available online for pre-purchase or can be bought at the Marshfield Senior Center the day of the event.
“This is for a really great cause. The school foundation doesn’t just help the schools, it provides scholarships and other things that help support students and the system in general,” Raney explained. “We thought this would be a great opportunity to show off a little bit of our community while raising funds that will directly support our school and the students.”
Just ahead of the tours, the Marshfield Senior Center will be providing a soup and chili supper in addition to a craft fair and bake sale. Participants are asked to stop by the senior center from 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. to pick up their tickets and maps. Tickets are $20 per person and will go directly to the Marshfield Public Schools Foundation. The Senior Center is located at 427 W Washington, Marshfield.
“Ticket pickup will be at the senior center, and we’ll also give participants a map of where they are headed,” she added. “The first stop is at the senior center, so if people want to come early they can eat soup and chili and help support them while learning about all of the services offered to our senior citizens in our community. They’ll also be doing a Christmas card photograph to raise funds for the center as well. It’s kind of a double fundraiser because it’s going to benefit the school foundation, but it’s also going to benefit the senior center and we do hope that people will come early and partake in what they’re doing.”
