Top Five Comic- Con Announcements

Posted

This weekend was the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. This convention is the go-to convention for all things related to comic nerds. The San Diego Comic-Con is full of costumes, merchandise, and announcements for three days. Today I will be ranking my favorite moments. Here are my top five (favorite) announcements from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

5. New Comics- Without comics, there would not have been a Marvel Cinematic Universe or other well-known superhero movies. Luckily comics have been coming out for years. As a result, they have given Hollywood plenty of ideas. Some comic announcements include a new crossover with Batman and Spawn, last seen in 1994, and a new X-men comic series courtesy of Chris Claremont, whose work inspired the hit animated series from the 90s.

4. Transformers Earthspark- Transform and roll this November. Paramount Plus will release a new Transformers series with 26 episodes and an exciting cast, including Alan Tudyk as Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. Nothing else is known outside of a teaser except that it will have fun and action. Worth checking out if you are a fan of the Transformers franchise.

3. Black Adam- Dwayne Johnson will debut in the DC films as Black Adam. The title character is not quite a hero but not quite a villain. The film will not only feature the title character but also heroes who are not so well known by casual audiences. Black Adam is a character that has good intentions but isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. This film is set to be released in October and is sure to be thundering with audiences.

2. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves- Roll for initiative this coming March, we are getting a new D&D movie. It will feature an all-star cast including Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez. The trailer featured monsters and elements well known in the D&D franchise, including Mimics and Owlbears. This film is looking like a Critical Roll indeed.

1. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever- When news came out of the passing of Chadwick Boseman, fans wondered what the fate of the announced sequel would be. Would Marvel recast? Who would or should be Black Panther? Fans debated these questions across the internet, and now we have our answer. The trailer gives chills and excitement as we see a family struggling with losing a loved one while also dealing with an underwater threat. The film is set to be released in November and will be one of the most talked about movies this year.

That is my list, but I will tell you it was difficult to make as so many great things came out this weekend. Thank you again for reading, and have a good rest of your shift.
