Park improvements just in time for summer

Fordland Elementary Student Leadership, led by school counselor Melody Ball, executed their community project on Saturday, May 17 at the Fordland City Park.

This leadership group consists of a select group of kids from 4th and 5th grades as well as one from 2nd grade. 

Their project, titled “Leadership Community Park Restoration Project” was a result of the planning and hard work of the students throughout the school year. The day at the park included tasks such as filling in the pea gravel around the equipment, painting the restrooms, placing the park sign and planting flowers around it and other grounds keeping jobs of mowing, weed eating, trimming bushes and trees, picking up sticks, raking leaves and pulling weeds. 

Students along with their families, worked diligently to ensure the park was ready for the summer months.
