"Leaving the scene of an accident fatality is the technical term," said Webster County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Berkstresser. "The range of punishment for a Class E Felony has a maximum of 4 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections."

According to Berkstresser, his office's victim's adcovate has been in contact with the family of the deceased, who was identified as Traten Sherry of Omaha, Nebraska. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) and the Webster County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) worked together on the investigation.

"There wasn't very much information in the first 24 hours... we had to wait on an autopsy and then authorities had to do more of an investigation after the autopsy because it didn't show us as much as we would have hoped," he explained. "It was that next week when several agencies got together and began reviewing serviellance that revealed information critical to the case. It took a lot of hours to review and clarify what happened."

According to a probable cause statement from the MSHP, Wright's father contacted authorities just before noon that day with information that his daughter struck someone with her car around 3:30 a.m. and left the scene without contacting law enforcement.

After recieving the call from Mr. Wright, members of the MSHP and WCSO located the suspect at her grandparents home in Strafford along with the blood spattered vehicle which also had minor front-end damage. At this time, authorities placed her under arrest for leaving the scene of a crash resuting in death.

According to court documents, Wright made several vulgar statements towards the law enforcement officers while she was detained in the trooper's car. She was released and awaits a scheduled hearing on Feb. 23.
