Marshfield Girls Night

Posted

For the last few years, Marshfield Girls Night has been a highlight of the women’s athletic division at Marshfield High School.

“It’s not very often you get to showcase both our girls wrestling and our girls basketball in the same night,” said Athletic Director Ronda Hubbard. “It brings these two different worlds together. The goal is to inspire our young Lady Jays to be involved in athletics.”

At 5 p.m., the Lady Jays wrestling team took on the Willard Tigers.

Seniors Trinity Lesser and Isabella Whitlock picked up a pin in their matches.

Lesser has officially recorded 100 career wins, an outstanding accomplishment for any wrestler. She is the first Bluejay in history to every achieve this feat. Check next week’s edition of The Marshfield Mail for a full feature on Lesser’s career.

Alyxandrea Keifert, a junior, stands at 99 wins.

"We have several athletes approaching 100 wins," said head coach of girls wrestling Adam Wright. "It shows the progression of our program, and the commitment of our athletes through the years."

Marshfield's girls wrestling team is undefeated on the season.

The Lady Jays defeated Willard 48-30.

Next, the Jays basketball team took on the Willard Tigers.

In an absolute blowout, the Lady Jays took the win. The final score 57-26.

"Girls night was an awesome opportunity for us to showcase the high-level female athletes we have here at Marshfield," said head coach of girls basketball Katie Pritchard. "Our wrestling program is top notch, and it was fun to host a home event alongside them."

Sophomores Jordan Jung and Peyton Ward stepped up and scored 13 points each with the extra playing time afforded to them by the lead. Lauren Luebbert, a senior, picked up eight points before exiting the game. Senior Abby McBride had six. Sophomore Quinn Aldridge collected seven points.
