Mail team continues to grow

Posted

The Marshfield Mail pleased for the addition of another local reporter to its editorial team. Alyssa Andrews, a Marshfield High School graduate, is dedicated to the Webster County community and excited to take a leap in to journalism.

“I am so thrilled to join the Marshfield Mail,” Andrews said. “I love the idea of celebrating, supporting, and honoring our community.”

Andrews kept herself busy since graduating from Marshfield High School in 2012. She has since traveled and worked on international conservation projects in Costa Rica, Greece, and India. With these conservation efforts, she also enjoyed running the organization’s communications, further sharing conservation knowledge to international volunteers. Andrews then decided to return home to sharpen her communication skills at Drury University, graduating with a Bachelors in Organizational & Leadership Communication in May, 2020.

“I’ve known Alyssa for nearly two decades,” stated Mail editor Shelby Atkison. “We quite literally grew up alongside one another in Marshfield schools and she learned under the same communication advisor as I had at Drury. There could not be a better candidate to fill this position.”

Since returning to Webster County, Andrews also married Marshfield native Ethan Andrews. The couple live and work on his family’s century farm in Elkland.

Even though Andrews loves to travel, she believes it is important to remain close to her roots.

“I believe covering the news is just another way for me to cheer for my neighbors and friends,” she said. “Writing for the paper may be one of my greatest challenges yet, but it also may turn out to be one of my grandest adventures.”
