The week leading up to June 12, residents and commuters may have noticed signs with “Hunter the Owl” indicating the production of “Music in the Park.” This local event encouraged the community to gather and enjoy the beauty of Hidden Waters Nature Park and live music.
Music in the Park took place Sunday evening starting with a few words from the Friends of Hidden Waters President, Chris Davis. Davis thanked everyone in attendance and Webster Electric for the newest addition to the Callaway Cabin’s new south side porch.
Loose Change, a successful cover band, finished out the evening by strumming out hot tunes. However, not too hot, due to a heat advisory. The notorious sound of Garth Brook’s “Friends in Low Places,” carried throughout the park and surrounding neighborhoods. Many were able to enjoy themselves from their front porch.
The band provided a mix of entertainment ranging from country, pop, and Rock’n’Roll classics, as well as jokes sprinkled throughout the evening's performance. Toes were tapping, heads were bobbing and hands were clapping. The weather was hot, but the tunes were certainly cooling things down, with the help of the numerous water bottles consumed during the event.
The Music in the Park was a great time for folks young and old. The next Music in the Park event will be hosted in September.
