Lanning sentenced after pleading guilty

Posted

Jimmie H Lanning, of Seymour, pleaded guilty to Class E Felony of Failing to register as a sex offender in April.

Earlier this year, Seymour PD received a call about Lanning after he was picked up for questioning and consented to a search of his personal information back on Feb. 7. During that time, Lanning admitted to not registering in the Missouri Sex Offender Registry and had recently used his computer to look up images of children.

After pleading guilty to the charge on Apr. 17, his sentencing was decided for five years of parole under the supervision of the Missouri Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole. Lanning must also pay a $300 Law Enforcement Restitution Fund (LERF) fee and serve 100 hours of community service; the fee and community service must be completed within one year of when he pled guilty. If Lanning violates his parole, he could face four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
