Jays fall to Mt. Vernon: 13 - 44

The Jays celebrated Senior Night in addition to Pink Night on Oct. 14 while hosting the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers.

Just seven minutes into the first quarter, 3rd down and 6, BlueJay quarterback #11 Bryant Bull handed off to #21 Dayvion Harris at the 23-yard line who then delivered an explosive 77-yard run; scoring the first touchdown of the night. Marshfield kicked off the game with a 99-yard drive to start the game taking the early lead.

However, the Jays would be unable to keep the momentum The Mountaineers would respond with a 51-yard touchdown run. To add to the burn, Mt. Vernon then added a 48-yard pass/run, fumble recovery from the Jays, interception, and multiple touchdowns runs resulting in 44 points.

In the 4th quarter and less than a minute on the clock, the Jays appeared to still have some fight left in them and scored a touchdown run with the help of #23 Joseph Martin. The PAT would be successful by #10 Andrew Beckner

The Jays would finish the night with 256 total yards, 38 passing yards, 218 rushing yards, 3-11 on third down conversions, 4 turnovers, 2 fumbles and 2 interceptions.

Jays (4-4) travel to Springfield Catholic (0-7) on Friday, Oct. 21. Game begins at 7:00 p.m.
