The parents of Niangua can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their children will be safer at school. On Feb. 9, the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, in partnership with the Coover Charitable Foundation, presented Niangua TLC with a grant totaling $25,000 for fencing around the playground of Niangua schools.

“Our playground does not have any fencing right where it needs to be,” told co-president of Niangua TLC Judy Aswad. She explained that the playground does not have fencing, leaving a potential risk to animals and strangers. Another issue is buses approaching the playground during drop-off and pickup. But thanks to this grant, those issues will now be resolved.

Construction will be done by Boyd Fencing starting in June and is expected to be competed in a week or so.

Aswad expressed gratitude to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Coover Charitable Foundation for the grant and the safety it will provide, “On behalf of all the teachers at Niangua schools, thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping our kids safe.”
