Well, everyone, it is indeed that time of the year again. Everyone in Webster County will be receiving a letter for their personal property assessment. It may not be everyone’s favorite piece of mail, but it is part of our civic duties as citizens of this place we call home.
“The assessment list was sent out on Dec 31, and should be getting into mailboxes at the beginning of the week,” tells Webster County Assessor Austin Graybill. “We have been seeing a pretty good amount of the lists coming in. Still, I would like to remind citizens to keep checking their mailboxes, and if they have not received the assessment lists by next week, contact us.”
Graybill also encouraged everyone to double-check the lists to ensure they are accurate and return the lists by Mar 1 to avoid penalties. These penalties range depending on how much the assessed value of the personal property is.
This year also provides citizens with multiple ways to fill out and return the assessment lists.
“We wanted to make it as easy as possible to get your list turned in. You can now do it via QR code or online. You can mail it in or come in person to the office as well,” explains Graybill “the only thing we do not allow is a phone call because it is not the most accurate way to validate what you have.”
