Court construction continues at Rotary Park

Posted

Construction is progressing on the new tennis courts at Rotary Park in Marshfield, with crews currently stabilizing the subgrade in preparation for a post-tension concrete pad.

According to the project timeline, contractors will soon begin forming the concrete surface, which will require 28 days to cure once poured.

While the project contract allows for a 12-month timeline, contractors are optimistic that the surface could be ready by Halloween. However, due to the unpredictability of fall weather, some of the finishing touches—such as the surface coating and installation of chain-link fencing—may be delayed.

"If the weather turns, the coating can't be applied quite yet," City Administrator Sam Rost noted, explaining that cold temperatures and falling leaves could push some tasks into the spring. “If work cannot be completed this fall, they plan to return early next spring to finish.”

Despite unpredictable fall weather, the team is hopeful the facility will be fully playable in 2024. A video of the project construction can be viewed on the Marshfield Mail Facebook page.
