Headed to the Courts (Logan-Rogersville)

Posted

Winter Sports is fast approaching and with that comes perhaps one of the most anticipated Basketball. That said, we reached out to the coaches in the Webster County area and asked them about the upcoming season.

Speaking for the Logan-Rogersville Wildcat Boys' Basketball is Coach John Schaefer and Girls' Basketball is  Coach  Cory Watts.

What are your goals for the season?

Schaefer: Our goals are always to win a conference and a District championship and compete in the state playoffs.

Watts: Our goals for this season are to improve as the season progresses and hopefully compete for a conference and district title.

What are you looking forward to during the season?

Schaefer: We look forward to more maturity and depth this year. We also have some excellent sizes that we are anxious to utilize that we didn't have last year.

Watts: We are looking forward to adding to our late-season success. We won 5 of the last 7 games and are looking to build on that.

What do you enjoy most about coaching?

Schaefer: I enjoy watching our kids have success and the process of what it takes to build and maintain it. Most of the enjoyment is watching our players turn into young men, seeing them with their families, and having success in their lives years after graduating.

Watts: I enjoy watching our players develop into better players. Seeing their work in the offseason and practice translate to games

Who are some players to look out for, and why?

Schaefer: Curry Sutherland, 6'5, Senior, Starter since sophomore.

Brody McNeil, 6'4 Senior, Transfer from Hartville

Scott Metz, 6'6 Junior Power forward, has matured and improved his skill set.

Keegan Daniels, 6'3 Senior Leader that can shoot 3pt and post up

Watts: Emma Spurlin, Chayla Perry, and Sienna Clark all return from last year's team and will provide leadership and quality experience. We also have a strong freshman class that should contribute to the varsity level. So get ready to learn names like Hailey Buckman, Reagan Rassmussen, Eden Kibby, Sydney Prenger, and Taylor Wray.

We, citizens of Webster County, look forward to what the season brings to these teams.
