Chamber welcomes new coordinator

Posted

With two of the chambers biggest events under her belt (The Golf Tournament and The 4th of July parade), Rachel Andrews can officially say she is ready to tackle her new position as the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce coordinator.

“I feel like I’m in an excellent position...I think I’ve come in at a really good time…people have bent over backwards to walk me through this and make sure that I won’t fail,” shared Andrews who has only been employed by the chamber for just shy of one month.

“Rachel has been a face in the community for most, if not all, of her life. She is outgoing… and has a genuine desire to see the small businesses and community grow and be successful,” shared Kim Clift current Board President for the Chamber.

“I’m excited to learn more of the day to day operations…I can do events, but I was really nervous about the day to day, but I don’t think it’s going to be as complicated as it’s going to be,” reflected Andrews about her first few weeks on the job. “Each challenge that I have met, I have been able to reach out to someone and they’ve been like ‘oh let me help you with that’.”

With an uptick in small businesses closing their doors, the Chamber is in a crucial position to be able to offer help and support to businesses in the community. “We hope to add benefits to the businesses, those that are members of the chamber and in our community. We realize that times are hard and we want to partner with them to help grow and be successful,” shared Clift. “We have been discussing ways we can promote, advertise and support businesses. It is heartbreaking that we are seeing closings in the area; it takes all of us to work together-the city, chamber, people- and find ways to provide resources and support to keep the businesses alive and thriving.”

As for Andrews, she is ready to keep the ball rolling. “I always thought it would be fun; interacting with the community, getting more involved in the community. I think it’s a good fit for me. I’m feeling pretty confident.”

Andrews, who has lived in the Marshfield area most of her life, has many friends and family in the community. In addition to her new job at the chamber, Andrews also coordinates the Harvest Days festival and the vendor show portion of the Marshfield Cherry Blossom Festival.

If you’d like to meet the new Chamber Coordinator, the office is open Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. “I’m generally here Monday through Friday unless I have to run an errand or something. Come by and say hi,” Andrews invites. “I love to talk and visit with people.”
