Blue Jays finish third at Marshfield Invitational

Posted

The Blue Jay golf team got to swing on its home course Tuesday, April 8 at the Marshfield Invitational. With large gusts of wind and soggy conditions, the team trudged through, placing third.

“I thought the tournament went well and I was extremely proud of our boys,” said Marshfield head coach Reggie Smith. “We had 18 teams so a third place finish against some of those bigger schools was very good for us.”

Marshfield’s overall finish was just one stroke behind Lebanon and a dozen behind the top team of the day, Rolla. Luke Garner finished with a socore of 77, earning the fourth place finish behind a pair of Rolla golfers (Channy Jordan–74 and Wyatt Bahr–76) and Jaxson Bailey of Monett who swung a 73. Marshfield’s Michael Alves finished 10th with a score of 81.

The Marshfield golf squad competed at the MSU Relays at the Bill and Payne Stewart golf course in Springfield Tuesday, with results following publication deadline.
