And the winners are

Posted

Last week the Webster County Library held its first-ever bookmark contest. After all the votes were tallied, the Library announced the winners on May 25.

The list of the winners and their categories are as follows:

Age 5-7: Eviee

Age 8-10: Teyla

Age 11-13: Micah

Age 14-17: Kimarie

Adult: Brianne

"Both Erin and I are elated to see how many people turned out to vote," told Leah Shelby, the Youth Services Librarian for the Webster County Library. But, for people excited about getting the winning bookmarks, do not worry. They have been ordered and should be available sometime in the middle of June.

"I'm happy but kind of nervous," told Eviee when she found she was one of the winners.

Upon discovering they also won, mother Brianne and her daughter Teyla were surprised. "We have never done a contest like this before, so it feels pretty good. We told everyone to come and vote but did not tell them which were ours. The Library has always been a big part of my life, so I always bring my kids to the Library because it opens up all sorts of awesome stuff for us."

Even if they did not win, the runners-up will still be honored during the summer reading program as the bookmark submissions will be displayed on the bookshelves' end caps. "Thank you again to everyone who participated, and we look forward to hosting this next year." told Shelby.
