39th Annual Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival gears up for July showing

Posted

The 39th Annual Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival will continue the longstanding Ozarks tradition of music and fellowship. Last year, the festival saw record crowds and this year’s festival is expected to draw a similar interest. The 2023 July Festival was expanded to include a Wednesday night show, a festival first. This year’s festival will begin Wednesday, July 10 and run through Saturday, July 13.

“We’re really looking forward to this summer festival,” said Aaron McDaris, of McDaris Music Festivals. “We have around 80 or 90 campers in there so far and we’re finishing up some minor improvements around the park. We’ve done some preparation for the heat and put a new stain on the stage. We’re ready to go!”

Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festivals operates under the management of McDaris Music Festivals, LLC. Aaron and Amy McDaris live in Hartville, Mo with their two children, Ethan and Katie. Aaron has been the banjo player for Rhonda Vincent & The Rage for many years and brings immeasurable experience and expertise in the genre.

Fans fill the venue early the week of the show with camper lots regularly filling up by the Wednesday start date. Four days of music is expected to draw thousands of fans for performances by some of the best bluegrass talent in the world.

The shows begin Wednesday and Thursday, moving into a packed weekend. Wednesday and Thursday will feature talent from Appalachian Road Show, Sylamore Special, Harper Collective and more. Friday’s lineup includes Seldom Scene, Junior Sisk, Dave Adkins and more.

Rhonda Vincent and the Rage tae take the stage Saturday, along with the Lonesome River Band, The Little Roy and Lizzy Show, Russ Morton Youth Showcase, Harman and Ruble and Osborne Brothers Tribute featuring Brian Vincent.

This will be the second time “Queen of Bluegrass” Rhonda Vincent & The Rage is able to attend the July festival and Conway is excited to welcome her back.

Admission for Wednesday and Thursday of the festival is $20 per adult; Friday and Saturday is $35 per person. A four day pass is $80. Children are admitted at half the price.

“We’ve kept everything pretty well the same as when the Day family operated things and we’re expecting a pretty large crowd again this year,” he added.

No reservations are accepted for camping at the festival grounds. Camping for the rain or shine event is available at the following rate on a first come, first serve basis:

• One 30 Amp. Outlet is $15 per day

• One 50 Amp. Outlet is $20 per day

• Dropped campers are $3 per day

• Rough camping with no electric is $6 per day
