First-ever 5K benefits playground

The Niangua R-5 School District hosted its first-ever Red Run 5K Saturday, Oct. 20. Participants received a T-shirt and pancake breakfast with their entry fee. The event was organized as a fundraiser for playground equipment. Between the 5K and a student pledge drive held the day before, nearly $1,500 was raised for the cause.
